Eugene Sammons

Hephzibah, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, April 15, 2017. Gene loved and served the Lord faithfully with all his heart. Mr. Eugene Sammons, 89, was a loving husband of 64 years to Betty B. Sammons.

Eugene was a native of Glascock County, GA but has lived in Richmond county since 1952. He was a United States Marine Corp. veteran who served in Korea. He retired from McLane Trucking Company and later went on to work for Master Pontiac GMC. He was a member of New Hope Worship Center.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his granddaughters: Kristie Sammons, April Clark, and Brittany Smallwood; great grandchildren: Hazel Grace Clark and Tripp Clark; and brother: William Sammons. He is preceded in death by his sons Michael E. Sammons and Mark A. Sammons, his parents Willis and Georgia Sammons, brothers J.C. Sammons, George Sammons, Lester Sammons,Thomas Sammons, Hugh Sammons, and Terrell Sammons.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Rich Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
