Obituary

WORCESTER-James H. Keirstead, Jr., 77, of 18 Ashmont Avenue, died Monday, September 12th in Saint Vincent Hospital after a long illness. His wife of 39 years, Dorothy M. (Kurshius) died in 1994. He leaves a son; Keith R. Keirstead of St. Petersburg, FL, 3 daughters; Cheryl J. Lapierre of Worcester, Helene A. Hy of Milford, NH and Carolyn J. Beckwith of East Brookfield, a brother; Richard P. Keirstead of Westerly, RI, a sister; Barbara A. Druskis of Worcester, 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

He was born in Worcester the son of James H. and Elizabeth T. (Fagan) Keirstead Sr. and attended Worcester schools. He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran, serving as a military policeman. Mr. Keirstead was employed as a melter for Standard Foundry Company for 34 years, retiring in 1990. He was a past member of the American Legion Main South Post 341 and participated in a bowling league for several years.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 15th at 11:00 AM in St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
