Fairhaven — Irene Florio Medeiros, age 98 of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Fairhaven.
She was wife of the late Octavio Medeiros and the daughter of the late Larianno and Mary (Costa) Florio.
Irene was born in New Bedford. She and her husband Ocy owned the M&A Hobby Shop in New Bedford. She also was a retiree of the Acushnet Company, golf ball division.
She is survived by her brother John Florio and his wife Eugenia; 2 nephews: Paul A. Santos and his wife Florence and Michael Florio and his wife Ann; 5 nieces: Linda Frasier, Deborah Florio, Shirley Martin, Marilyn Cox and Joyce Raposa. Irene was predeceased by one sister, Mary C. Santos and 3 brothers: Joseph Manuel and Antone Florio.
Irene’s family is ever grateful for the staff at Alden Court for their tender loving care to Irene these past 13 years and recently for the Community care Hospice Service.Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Tuesday at 7:30 A.M. followed by her funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
