TEWKSBURY - Dorothy M. (Daudelin) Lavallee, age 86, a former matron at both the
Tewksbury Memorial and Junior High Schools, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, at the
Wentworth Nursing Care Center in Lowell, after a long period of declining health.. She was the
wife for 55 years of Louis P. Lavallee Sr., who died November 1993.
She was born in the Dorchester section of Boston, but was raised in Lowell. She had resided in
Tewksbury since 1952.
Her early work career included Atlantic Parachute Company in Lowell, and later the Raytheon
Company in South Lowell. She went on to become the Matron of the secondary public schools in
Tewksbury.
She was a devout Catholic woman throughout her life, as a communicant of St. William’s Church
in Tewksbury, where she held membership in the Sodality, as well as the Greater Lowell League
of Catholic Women. In her later years she was active in the events at the Tewksbury Senior
Drop-In Center, and a life member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club.
Throughout her life, she was also a creator of fine ceramic objects. She was fondly recalled by
friends as having possessed boundless energy and giving selflessly throughout her life.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis P. Lavallee Jr and his wife Judith
(Wilson) of Tewksbury, Richard P. Lavallee and his wife Margaret (Thibodeau) of Hudson, NH;
one sister, Marguerite J Daudelin of Tewksbury; five grandchildren, Patricia (Lavallee) Shea and
her husband Steven of Westford, Dr. Susan (Lavallee) Kenyeres and her husband Christian of
Bedford, NH, Kathleen L. Boutin and her husband Gary of Nashua, NH, Kelly L. Rice and her
husband Chris of Hudson, NH, Richard Lavallee of Derry, NH; seven great grandchildren, Robyn,
Kristin, and Gary Boutin, Ashley and Cory Rice, Nicole and Matthew Shea; and several nieces
and nephews. ?Her Funeral
Mass was held Friday, Sept. 16 in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Tewksbury
