On April 11, 2017 Charles Edward Gross, 75, passed at Stella Maris Hospice after a brief illness. He was born on October 26, 1941, in Baltimore, to the late George Jacob Gross and Elizabeth Jane Roderick Gross. He is a 1958 graduate of The Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and he went on to receive dual degrees from Gettysburg College (’63) and Penn State University (’64) where he studied civil engineering. He was married to the late P. Marietta Scally from 1969 until her death in 2007. Together they raised six children: C. Maureen Donovan (Patrick), M. Eileen Gross, P. Kayleen Reese (Michael), G. Joseph Gross (Kate), K. Meghan Gross (Chad McCaughey), and C. Patrick Gross. Ed is the proud grandfather of 10: Wynnie, Nora, and Violet Gross, Mckinley, Shenan, and Hudson Reese, and Molly, Emily, Liam, and Katie Donovan. He is the devoted brother of Richard Gross (Joan) and the late George R. Gross (Patricia). Ed worked in waste water treatment for the State of Maryland from the late 1960’s until 1978 and from 1978 to 2003 he worked for the United States Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC. He was a long-time volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 740 as well as with Meals on Wheels, Our Daily Bread, and the Franciscan Center.
Friends may call at The Johnson-Fosbrink Funeral Home, P.A., 8521 Loch Raven Blvd, (beltway exit 29-B) on Tuesday, April 18th, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. All are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 19th, at 11 A.M. in The Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 8501 Loch Raven Blvd. Interment in New Cathedral Cemetery.
