Wylene Vaughn, 88, of Osierfield, Georgia, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 15, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Vaughn was born November 21, 1928, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Ludie & Katie Tucker Hunter. She lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Vaughn graduated from Ocilla High School in 1944 and later attended Ben Hill Irwin Tech. She was a nurse for Dr. Ward in Fitzgerald and Dr. Harris in Ocilla, a store manager for Hier’s Jewelry Store and Hill’s Pharmacy. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Ambrose, Georgia, where she taught Sunday School and played the piano.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda K. Vaughn of Albany; a granddaughter, Lisa & Major Erik Cobbs of Salt Lake City, Utah; a great-granddaughter, Katherine Grace Paul of Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Edwin Vaughn and a son, Joel Edwin Vaughn.
