LeRoy Earl Gagner, age 87 of Prosser, entered into rest on April 9, 2017 at Amber Hills Assisted Living in Prosser. He was born in Prosser on April 30, 1929 to Emery and Mianda (Sisseck) Gagner and was raised in the Whitstran/Prosser area, graduating from Prosser High School in 1948. While attending high school, he met Leona Mary Braconnier and the couple were married on October 12, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser. They started their married life in Grandview from 1948 to 1973; Gleed from 1973 to 1978; Kennewick from 1978 to 1985; and then to Prosser from 1985 to present. He worked as a meat cutter for Shaw’s in Sunnyside from 1956-1973, Worrell’s Meat in Yakima and Kennewick from 1973 until his retirement in 1992 and worked on call at Underwood’s Prosser Lockers.
LeRoy loved his garden, feeding squirrels by hand and enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, playing dominos and cards and chasing mom around the house. LeRoy and Leona especially enjoyed the times they spent with friends, square dancing and round dancing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
LeRoy is survived by his children, Elaine Martin (John) of Prosser, Ray Gagner (Niki) of Bothell, Randy Gagner (Chris) of Roy, WA, Val DeLeon of Pasco, Pam Jahnke (Troy) of Pasco, Cheri Beltran (Joel) of Prosser and Eric Gagner of Gilbert, Arizona; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Gagnier of Seattle and Barbara Schneider (Abie) of Othello and his brothers, Merlin Gagner (Jackie), Jim Gagner (Joan), Norman Gagner and Stanley Gagner, all of Prosser. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona on February 28, 2017 and his parents.
Visitation will be held at Prosser Funeral Home, 1220 Sheridan Avenue, on Monday, April 17th from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM followed by Recitation of the Rosary. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1905 Highland Drive in Prosser. A graveside service will follow the luncheon in the Prosser Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
