Janice Swilley Walker, 70, of Alapaha passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Walker at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Independent Worship Center in Tifton with the Rev. Tim Henry officiating. Mrs. Walker will be laid to rest at a later date.
Born October 16, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late Ire Swilley and Esse Harper Swilley. Before retiring, she was a nurse at Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home. She and her husband had traveled all over the United States and most of Canada and loved fishing and camping. She had play ed and sung for over 30 years in church.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, Larry Walker, Sr. of Alapaha; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jullian Duwayne and Michelle Walker and Larry Walker Jr., all of Alapaha; one daughter and son-in-law, Latrisha and Kevin Shaner of Sumner; one brother, James Swilley of Pineview; one sister, Carolynn Swilley of Ocala, Florida; nine grandchildren, Brittany Shaner, Brandon Shaner, Ryan Shaner, Ladonna Shaner, Devin Swaills, Dillon Walker, Julie Ann Walker, Jaycee Walker and Eric Walker; and four great-grandchildren, Trisha Abbott, Christian Sirmans, Joel Tye and Madison Tye.
