Monte Alfrey, 68, of Anderson died April 10, 2017 at Community Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born December 9, 1948 in Anderson. He was the son of Everett and Norma Jean (Smith) Alfrey.
He served in the United States Navy.
He worked production at G. M. at Fisher Guide Marion M.F.D. for 30 + years.
He was a member of Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and United Auto Workers. He enjoyed playing poker, working on puzzle books, playing the lottery and watching reality T.V.
He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth "Beth" (Eric) Smith, Jeff (Candie) Hileman, Michael Hileman and Kimberly Hileman; three sisters, Connie (Bill) Hope, Lynn Alfrey-Willhite, Polly (Sid) Castor; seven grandchildren, Jakob Smith, Bret Hileman, Cora Hileman, Monica (Shaun) Kocher, Vince (Ashley) Hileman, LaDonna (Cody) Parker, Dylan (Ashlei) Miller; 15 great grandchildren; three nephews, Jason (Crystal) Pickering, Brendon (Robin) Hope, Alex (Ashley) Witham; special friends, Ruth Conroy, Rick and Minnie Graham, Christina Linville, Dan and Kathy Key, and Judy Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 22 years, Pamela Kay Alfrey in 2009; grandson, Monte Lee Clark in 2016.
Services will be on Friday at 12 noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Clifton Ashlock of Memorial Circle Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery with Daleville American Legion Post 446 military graveside rites.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until the service at noon at the funeral home.
