Barbara P. Caton, 87, of New Bedford died April 11, 2017 at home after a long illness.
She was the wife of Frank J. Caton.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Stephen and Angelina (Macedo) Chase, she was raised in Fairhaven and lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Caton was formerly employed as a stitcher at Bonnie Lane Pajamas in New Bedford for many years until her retirement. She was later employed at the New Bedford Public Library.
She was a volunteer at WHALE.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Thomas Caton of New Bedford; a daughter, Sharon Hummel and her husband George of Silver Springs, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Betty Santos, Carol Lake, Albert "Jack" Chase, Shirley Heitz, Arthur "Butch" Chase, Aldea "Marsha" Jindracek and Robert Chase.
Her visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 13th from 4-8 PM the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Nurse Home Care, P.O. Box 751, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
