Evans, GA - Charles Edward “Charlie” Roupe, 68, of Evans, GA passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Augusta Storey Chapel with Rev. Chip Reeves officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faith, Hope, and Love Sunday School class.
Charlie was born in Strasburg, VA to John O. and Sarah Margaree Roupe on May 5, 1948. Charlie and his family moved to Georgia where he attended and graduated Fulton High School. After high school, he served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired from ASC Equipment Company after 33 years in heavy equipment sales. Throughout his career many of his colleagues and customers became his close friends. Charlie was fun-loving, generous, creative, talented, and a loyal friend. He was proud of his family, his military service, and his time as a volunteer fire-fighter. He enjoyed cooking big family meals, singing in the church choir, painting, making pottery, hunting, and fishing. His humor and wit were a constant source of delight for family and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jane Morgan Roupe, his three daughters, Joy Roupe Jones (David) of Millbrook, AL, Sara Jane Castro (Christian) of Chicago, IL, and Susannah Mae Prince (Victor) of Atlanta, GA; his stepmother, Anna I. Roupe; his sister Lynne Williams; and his brother Mark Roupe (Beverly); and one granddaughter Emily Stephens.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
