Manuela S. (Silva) Serpa, 89, of New Bedford died Sunday April 9, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Manuel N. Serpa.
Born in Faial, Azores, the daughter of the late Mariana daSilva Serpa, she lived in New Bedford since 1968.
Mrs. Serpa was formerly employed as a seamstress for Paul Modes, Inc.
She was a loving and caring person who opened her doors to everyone.
She is survived by her husband, Manuel; two sons, Michael S. Serpa and his wife Jacqueline, and Rui N. Serpa, all of New Bedford; her brother, Rui Alexandre and his wife Noemia of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Samantha, Bethany, Rebecca, Christina, and James; a great-grandson, Nicholas; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Manuel Silva and Jaime Alexandre.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday April 13, 2017 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by the Liturgy of the Word and Final Commendation at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 AM.
