Renee Christine Calafiore, 75, of Gales Ferry died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at her home.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph “Joe” Calafiore who died in 2006.
She was born on October 13, 1941 in Metz, France the daughter of Antoine and Suzanne DeCecco.
In the early ‘60’s she met her husband and moved to this country where she lovingly raised her family. She loved French music, movies and travel. She was an avid reader and a wonderful cook, often entertaining friends and family. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and she was a member of the French Club in Jewett City. Renee was a kind-hearted, honest, funny, bubbly, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all, and her legacy will live on with her children.
She is survived by her three children, Marc Calafiore of New Haven, Natalie Mully-Calafiore of London, England, and Valerie Calafiore-Barnett of Gales Ferry and 8 grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 13, at 12 Noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Church,1650 Route 12, Gales Ferry. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. There are no visiting hours.
