Joseph A. Reardon of Bellingham, formerly of Roslindale, and North Ft. Myers, FL., passed away on Sunday April 9, 2017. Beloved husband of Theresa (Scaduto). Devoted father of Stephen Reardon and his wife Susan, Patricia Bazonski and her husband Perry and Karen Scalfani. Loving grandfather of Nicole, Stephen Jr., Garrett, Michael, Teresa. Funeral on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10AM from the Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814 American Legion Hwy. (near Cummins Hwy.) Roslindale, Followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 169 Cummins Hwy. Roslindale at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8PM. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284. Joe was a U.S. Marine Veteran of Korea, a member of the “Chosen Few” and a Boston Firefighter for 40 years.

Boston Fire Fighter for 40 years
Joseph Alexander Reardon was born May 23, 1931 in Charlestown, MA to Bridget Reardon and Joseph Morris Reardon.
He grew up in Charlestown, Roslindale, and Hyde Park. Joseph joined the Marines in November 1949 and served his Country honorably until February 1953. During his time in the service he fought 11 months in active combat during the Korean War at the Chosen Reservoir. During his time in active combat Joseph was promoted twice, once to Corporal and next to Sargent. In February 1953 he received an Honorable Discharge and later was named Quarter Master for the New England chapter of the Chosen Few.
After his time in the service Joseph came home and met the love of his life, Terry Scaduto. In tens months time, November 1954, Terry and Joe were married and lived happily together for 62 years with residences in Roslindale and Medway. They had three children: Stephen, Patricia, and Karen. He loved his family just like his work. He joined the Boston Fire Department on July 7th 1955. He was assigned to Engine 40 in East Boston, Engine 55 in West Roxbury, Ladder 29 in Dorchester, Engine 42 in Roxbury, Engine 34 in Brighton, and Ladder 28 in Hyde Park. He also had worked at headquarters driving for 2 Chiefs. He was promoted in June 1974 to Lieutenant and also served as acting Captain. Joseph retired on March 1st 1994 after 39 years of service.
Joseph enjoyed his time golfing, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved the warm sunny weather in North Fort Myers Florida. In the weeks leading up to his death he was fortunate to be surrounded by his family while staying at his daughter Karen’s home in Bellingham. His battle with cancer ended on April 9th 2017 at 1:25am.
We miss you Papa and your memory will live in our hearts and prayers forever. Thank you for being an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a hero to our country. We pray that you can truly rest in peace and watch over us from heaven
