Obituary

NATICK: Peter C. Yaeger, age 63, of Natick, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was the devoted husband of Theresa M. “Terry” (Mann) Yaeger for 20 years, and the loving father of Matthew and Jason Yaeger.

Born and raised in Doylestown, PA, he was a son of John Yaeger, currently of Sandisfield, MA, and the late Margaret (Swan) Yaeger. Peter was a graduate of the Solebury High School and continued his education at Hiram College in Ohio.) Following a brief sabbatical, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Arizona State University. He completed his Doctorate at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Peter came to Boston to participate in postdoctoral training at Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute. Specializing in cell therapy, he started his career with BioSurface Technology of Cambridge, and was subsequently employed with Genzyme Corp., later Sanofi Corp. of Framingham. He retired in 2015.

Peter had a great passion for hiking and backpacking, and it was on one of these trips that he met Terry. The couple wed in 1996, and after brief periods in Boston and Newton, settled in Natick raise their family. Peter became involved with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Committee Chair for Boy Scout Troop 7, Natick, as well as taking on the responsibilities of being an Assistant Scout Master. He never tired of exploring outdoors and had recently enjoyed a trip hiking in Arizona with his son Matthew.

Peter is also survived by a brother, John Yaeger, Jr., of South Carolina; his sister, Sarah Konstam and her husband Dominic of NY; a brother-in-law, Clifford L. Mann, Jr. and his wife Michele of Chelmsford; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alexander Yaeger.

Peter’s funeral service will be in First Congregational Church of Natick, 2 East Central Street, Natick, on Wednesday, April 12th at 11:00AM. Visiting hours will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Tuesday, 4 – 8PM. Burial will be private.
