James F. Slattery, 91, of Westport, MA died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Southpoint Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Fall River. He was husband of the late Lorraine L. (Penney) Slattery.
Born in Boston, he was son of the late Timothy D. and Ellen G. (O'Brien) Slattery. He worked for Boston Edison for 33 years until his retirement. Mr. Slattery was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport and St. Ann's Parish, Dorchester, MA and was a member of the American Legion Post 145, Westport. He was a loyal Red Sox fan who enjoyed going to Horseneck Beach and East Beach, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife and family.
Survivors include 2 sons: James F. Slattery, Jr. of Fall River and Timothy R. Slattery of Westport; 4 daughters: Karen M. Slattery of Boston, MA, Trisha J. Slattery of Ludlow, ME, Cathy A. Collins of Jeffersonton, VA and Maryann Burrows of New Bedford, MA; a sister: Marie Bishop of Braintree, MA; 16 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was grandfather of the late Tara Cawley and the late Joshua Magrane and brother of the late Joseph G. Slattery and Paul V. Slattery.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Tuesday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
