John J. McCarthy, 65, of Derry, NH, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, in Mass General Hospital, Boston, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lowell, MA on June 26, 1951, a son of John B. McCarthy and the late Anita L. (Charette) McCarthy. John spent his career proudly as a self-employed long distance truck driver. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle, carpentry, and watching his kids play sports. He was known for his powerful sense of humor and easy going way of living life. John was a great and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Terri (Graham) McCarthy; two sons, John McCarthy and his fiancée Christine Kelley and Kevin McCarthy; daughter, Lauren McCarthy; two grandsons, Cameron Kelley and James McCarthy; two sisters, Joyce Dastou and Janice Poulin; three brothers, Jeffrey McCarthy, James McCarthy and Joseph McCarthy; his godmother, Lorraine Gilbert and many nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his sister, JoAnn Comtois.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH.
