Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Christoffels
Longtime Tewksbury Resident


TEWKSBURY: Mary Louise “Mary Lou” (Homola) Christoffels, age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for 58 years, and communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Andover, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.

She was the beloved wife of Gerard L. Christoffels, who passed away on September 10, 2007.

Born in Johnstown, PA on July 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John F. Homola and the late Mary Louise (Popchak) Homola.

Mary Lou attended local schools and graduated from Ferndale High School.

In 1959, she and her late husband moved to Tewksbury, where they raised their six children.

Mary Lou worked for several years as a shift manager for the Wang Corporation in the Tewksbury and Lowell facilities.

She was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-In-Center. In addition, she was a member of the Tewksbury Interfaith Choir, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Tewksbury Library Scholarship Committee.

She enjoyed many activities including cooking for her family and hosting parties for the holidays.

Mary Lou is survived by six children, Gerard L. “Buck” Christoffels and his wife Anne Marie (Carew) of Derry, NH, David A. Chrisstoffels and his wife Diane (Gorfinkle) of Litchfield, NH, Nancy Mcclellan of Tewksbury, Lisa Fahey of Tewksbury, Tina M. Griffith and her husband James of Morrisville, NC, and Mark R. Christoffels and his wife Angela (Elben) of Methuen; one sister, Genevieve Feschenko of Youngtown, OH; two brothers, Robert Homola and his wife Shirley of South Fork, PA and Raymond Homola and his wife Barbara of Tewksbury. She leaves thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was the mother-in-law of the late Timothy Fahey, who passed away on April 4, 2017.

Calling hours are Monday, April 10, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will begin Tuesday, April 11, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Rd., Andover. Interment will be at a later date at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the March of Dimes, 112 Turnpike Road, # 102, Westborough, MA 01581 or to
