Sagamore Beach, MA – Stephen Patrick Horgan, 75, of Sagamore Beach and formerly of Hyannis and Worcester passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, April 7 after a long illness.
Mr. Horgan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol A. (Williams) Horgan; a son, Stephen J. Horgan and his wife, Heather of San Francisco, CA; a daughter, Rebecca A. Esip and her husband, Brandon of Sagamore Beach, MA; two sisters, Dolores Burden of Gambrel, MD and Racina F. Benoit of Shrewsbury, MA; and his grandchildren, William, George, John, Grace and Emma; and many nephews and nieces.
Stephen was born in Worcester, son of the late Stephen and Bridget (Daley) Horgan and is also predeceased by a brother, Michael Horgan and a sister, Mary Ann Baker.
Stephen was a proud alumni of St. Johns High School class of 1960.He started his career at the Fair Company in Worcester, where he met his beautiful wife. They traveled for many years before settling to Cape Cod. He was the sales manager at Colonial Gas until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bridge during his retirement years in Naples FL. He loved to challenge his family to games of trivia and cards. He was an amazing husband, father and devoted grandfather.
Stephen was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis and previously belonged to Sacred Heart – St. Catherine of Sweden Church in Worcester before moving to Cape Cod. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Rotary Club.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 11 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a funeral mass at 11 AM in Sacred Heart – St. Catherine of Sweden Church 600 Cambridge St. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 10 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Johns Annual Fund in memory of Stephen Horgan ’60.
