Mary Catherine Roper, 70, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Ms. Roper was born January 11, 1947, in Orange County, Texas, to the late Robert Franklin & Helen Gertrude Smith Grogan. She served her country honorably in the United States Air Force. She attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas and earned a Master’s degree in Education from Pace University in New York. She worked as an educator in New York. She moved to Bowens Mill in 1988 and was a member of the Bowens Mill Christian Center.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dallas Roper & Chris Tsavatewa of Macon; two grandchildren: Henry Tsavatewa and Hazel Tsavatewa; two step-sons: Kenneth Allen Roper & Teri of Ellenwood and William Christopher Roper of Pompano Beach, Florida; a nephew, Robert Michael Grogan, Jr. of West Columbia, Texas as well as her extended family at Bowens Mill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Michael Grogan.
