SALEM - Harold Mitchell Fraser, age 101, husband of the late Hilda M. (Farley) Fraser
who passed away in 2011 and with whom he shared 45 years of marriage, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Dunbarton, Scotland, he was the son of the late Mitchell and Marion (Bruce) Fraser. He sailed from Scotland to Boston when he was a child and was a resident of Salem for most of his life.
A US Navy veteran of WWII, he served from Februarry,1942 until honorably discharged in December,1945 as a Motor Machinist’s Mate second class.
Prior to his retirement, Harold was a police officer with the Metropolitan District Commission Police Department for many years.
Harold and his late wife enjoyed traveling both within the US and abroad. He was a drummer in the Maple Sugar Jazz Band, performing at the Danvers Senior Center. He was an avid golfer, and with his love for music he previously played in other jazz bands over the years.
Although he leaves no immediate family, he leaves behind many close friends and his beloved cat, Maggie.
