WALSH, Frances, age 98, and long time resident of Newton Massachusetts died Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Carlyle House in Framingham, Massachusetts. Beloved wife of the late James G. Walsh. She is survived by her two daughters, Megan Walsh of Wells, Maine and Julie Dunn of Ashland, Mass as well as 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. As a member of the greatest generation, Fran served in the Red Cross in Germany during WWII. Her husband who predeceased her in 1969 was a Captain in the US Navy. They traveled the world and US serving our country. Fran was an elementary school teacher of 35 years in the Newton schools. She was known for her dedication and passion to teaching. She always had a place in her heart for those in need. She was active in the METCO and Mentoring programs. Teaching children to read was her love. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visit with the family on Sunday, April 9 from 2-4 with a prayer service at 4 at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St. West Roxbury.
