Obituary

Sarah A. MacLellan, of Tewksbury and Harwichport, late of Andover, on Friday, March 31, 2017.

The daughter of the late John G. and Katherine MacLellan, she was born on July 31, 1923 at home in Dunvegan, Cape Breton Island Nova Scotia.

She is survived by two sisters, Loretta Grogan, currently residing at D’Youville Manor in Lowell, and Margaret Berube of Andover, and her sister-in-law, Anne MacLellan of Tewksbury, as well as thirty four devoted nieces and nephews and their children.
She was also the sister of the late Marion Hanley (John), Josephine Hedstrom (Ephraim), Allan D. MacLellan (Virginia), and John G. MacLellan, Jr.

She grew up in Tewksbury, and was a lifelong communicant of Saint Williams Church.

She graduated from Tewksbury High School and attended Regis College. She worked as a ticket agent for the former North East Airlines in Boston and went on to manage all three of the City Ticket Offices for the Airline: the Statler, the Parker House and State Street.

She later joined her family’s business, John G. MacLellan Oil Company, and together with her sister Margaret, enjoyed a long and active career managing and growing that business. She was also a co-founder of J.G. MacLellan Concrete Co. Inc., and served on the Board of the Union National Bank.

Throughout her life, she was devoted to her faith and her family and was a generous benefactor to both.
She was a constant presence of love and support to her parents, her siblings and her nieces and nephews, all of whom will always remember her good example, her generosity, her sense of fun and adventure, her humility and most of all, her love for each and every one of us. Our lives will not be the same without her, but we are ever grateful for Aunt Sarah.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ryan Thompson, Dr. Walter O’Donnell, the 11th floor staff of the Gray Building at Massachusetts General Hospital, Roberta Terrezzano, and Gabriela Zunega for their tender and loving care of Sarah.
