Obituary

Plyde P. Marsh, 89, of Fitzgerald, died, Saturday, April 1, 2017, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Mr. Marsh was born October 11, 1927, to the late Dr. John E. & Myrtle Summerford Marsh. He was a 1945 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during World War II. He earned his Master’s degree from the Atlanta Law School. Mr. Marsh served as a police officer for the City of Atlanta for 10 years. He retired as a team leader in shipping and receiving from Delphi Automotive Systems, formerly Delco Remy. He was a member of Pine Level Lodge F.&A.M. for over 65 years. Mr. Marsh was also a member of Hasan Shrine in Albany and the Ben Hillbilly parade unit. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and will be remembered as being a soft-spoken man who enjoyed life.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Trudy Marsh of Fitzgerald; sons and their spouses: Plyde Marsh Jr. & Terry of Macon, Johnny Marsh & Martha F. “Cookie” of Fitzgerald and Wesley Marsh & Sharon of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Madeline Marsh, Andrew Marsh, Ragan Reynolds, Riley Reynolds, Dawn Marsh Ryals, Melissa Marsh Jones, Melinda Marsh Stembridge, John Marsh, Michael Marsh, and Jon Marsh; his twin brother, William Marsh of Fitzgerald; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Ernest Marsh, Jr. and two sisters: Myrtle Marsh Flowers and Joan Marsh Rice.
