…longtime Lowell resident; 82
LOWELL - Mrs. Lorraine F. (Mills) Goad, age 82, a former Tewksbury resident, died peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Monday, March 13, after a long period of declining health. Lorraine was the beloved wife for over sixty-three years of William F. Goad.
She was born in Tewksbury, one of three children of the late Francis and Marion (Monahan) Mills, and was raised in Tewksbury, where she graduated from the Tewksbury High School with the Class of 1956. Since her marriage to Bill, she had resided in the Christian Hill neighborhood in Lowell.
In addition to raising her family of three, her early working career began with Honeywell in Lowell, and changed when she became a lunch program worker at the Bartlett School and later the Mcauliffe School on Lowell.
In her prime years, she enjoyed bowling, and in her later years focused her attention toward her beloved grandsons.
Besides her husband she leaves a son, William F. Goad Jr. of Lowell; a daughter, Cynthia A. “Cindy” Nugent of Lowell; two grandsons, George Nugent III and his finacé Michael Griffin of Andover and Michael Nugent and his wife Vanessa (Fountain) of Salem, NH; two great grandchildren, Hayleigh and Michael Nugent; a sister, Beverly Donohue of Lowell; a brother, Roy Mills of Tyngsborough; many nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her son, Gary R. Goad, who died in 1995.
The family thanks the staff at Willow Manor, especially the aides that provided excellent care for Lorraine during her stay.
Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery, and at her request, funeral services were private. Arrangements were through the Tewksbury Funeral Home.
