Obituary

North Smithfield, RI
Hortense A. Duguay, 98, died on March 25, 2017. She lived a long and happy life. She was born in Woonsocket on May 31, 1918 to Alfred Duguay and Dorilda (Berard) Duguay, and she grew up on West Street. She worked in the textile industry for many years, as well as for Tupperware and A. T. Cross. Hortense retired from A. T. Cross in 1983. She was a good athlete and proud of the many bowling trophies won in her early life. She loved to travel, gamble, and always had a winning scratch ticket to “cash in.” She enjoyed watching Patriots and Red Sox games and PGA golf. In the last few years, she spent her days doing Word Search puzzles which kept her mind active and enjoyed eating nine Vienna Fingers cookies a day. Most important, she was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend. She was pre-deceased by her parents; her brother, Lionel Duguay; her sisters: Germaine Denoyelle, Eileen Wrignt, and Cecile St. George. She is survived by her brother, Paul Duguay, of Woonsocket; nieces Denise Mercier, Pauline Wilkinson and Nancy Morales, and nephew, Ron Duguay, all of California; cousins; and many great-nieces and nephews including Lynn, Jean Richard, and Donna Denoyelle of New Hampshire. Services are private.
