Robert M. Alonge, 57, of Gales Ferry died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Carla (Miritello) Alonge.
He was born on October 5, 1959, in New York City, the son of the late George J. and Stella (Latka) Alonge. He grew up in Queens, NY, and attended school there. He is a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1982 to 1986.
In 1991 he and his wife relocated to Connecticut where he worked for 11 years as Plant Services Supervisor for American Ref-Fuel. In 2001 Robert started work as an Operating Engineer with Foxwoods.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his three children, Robert Joseph Alonge of Gales Ferry, Stephanie Marie Alonge of Boston, and Thomas Matthew Alonge of Gales Ferry, as well as his brother Michael Alonge and his wife Olive of Mystic and his sister Carol Alonge of New York City, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his stepmother, Patricia Sullivan of Grafton MA.
Robert’s family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, April 2, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 3, at 8:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1650 Route 12, Gales Ferry. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:15pm in Calvary Cemetery, 4902 Laurel Hill Blvd., Woodside NY 11377.
