FALL RIVER – Fernando Costa Lopes, age 80 of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Fernais da Luz, São Miguel, Açores, he was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Berube) Lopes and the son of the late Manuel daCosta Lopes and Maria doCarmo (Raposo) Lopes. Prior to retiring, Fernando worked as a maintenance man for Denny’s Restaurant. He was a former musician in the Our Lady of Light Band Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children: Louie Lopes of Fall River, Lisa Couto of Middleboro, and the late Anterno Lopes; his siblings: Anibal Costa of Somerset, Antero Costa & Eduardo Costa both of Fall River, Lubelia Medeiros of Canada, Lilia Aguiar & Lucia Gouveia both of Somerset; his grandchildren: Jonathan, Katherine, & Matthew Couto; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Carlos Costa.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Monday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
