Vincent F. Sordillo, 92, died peacefully on March 25, 2017 at Cordland Place Nursing Home after several illnesses.
Born in Revere, Massachusetts, Vincent was a son of Frank and Mildred (Sollitto) Sordillo. He graduated from Revere High School in 1942. Vincent enlisted in the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and graduated in December 1942. He served in all three war theaters of World War II. Vincent was honorably dischard from active duty in May 1946.
Vincent enrolled in Northeastern University in September 1946 and graduated in June 1951 as a chemical engineer. He worked in the engineering department of manufacturing companies in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He retired as Chief Engineer of the Hilsinger Company.
During retirement, Vincent joined the Rhode Island chapter of the AARP. He participated in the AARP state legislative committee and eventually became chairman of the committee. In addition, Vincent loved sailing, golf and bowling.
Vincent is survived by his lovely wife of sixty-three years, Claire Ann, and their three children: Carol Ann, Francis, and Jane and his siblings: John, Marie and Dorothy.
Vincent will be interred in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 269 Washington Street, West Warwick, RI.
