Obituary

Dorothy E. Russo of Truro, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday March 26, 2017 with her family by her side. Born in New York City on October 1, 1927, Dorothy was the daughter of Harry A. Peet and Elizabeth (Wilson) Peet. She was predeceased by her youngest child, James D. Russo in 1987; and by her brother, Harry Peet.

Throughout her life she was a champion of liberal causes and fought against social injustice. She was a founding mother of PFLAG – Brewster (Parents and Friends of Lesbians & Gays).

She is survived by her son, Kenneth J. Russo, and his husband, Michael MacIntyre of Provincetown; her son, Gregg Russo, and his husband, Scott J. Lattime of Truro; and her daughter, Diane Russo of Centerville, MA.

She is also survived by her niece, Audrey Blair, and the rest of her beloved Colorado family; her niece, Claire Mayone, and her family, of North Carolina; her niece Carolyn Connors, and her family, of Ennis, County Clare, Ireland; and her nephew, Harry Peet, of Port Orange, FL. She leaves behind her cousin and life-long friend, Jean Hunter, and her family of New Jersey; as well as her former husband, James D. Russo, and his wife Margaret, of Naples, FL. And last, but certainly not least, her much loved Maltese, Bella.

Visiting hours are Friday, April 7, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way in Provincetown. The funeral will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Saint Mary of the Harbor Episcopal Church, 517 Commercial Street in Provincetown, followed by internment in the family plot at the Provincetown Cemetery.
