Worcester-Thomas “Frank” Horgan, 79, of Worcester passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Holy Trinity Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Maura (Keenan) Horgan; five children, Mary Ellen Claus and her husband, Oliver of Walpole, Thomas Horgan, Jr. and his wife, Kristina of Worcester, Sean Horgan of Worcester, Kathleen DiNatale and her husband, Thomas of Walpole and Sheila Beliveau and her husband, Michael of Worcester; six grandchildren, Amber, Olivia, Dominic, Noah, Dante and Andrew; a great-grandson, Max; a sister, Bina Cronin of Ireland and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Patrick and Daniel Horgan, predeceased him. He was born in Glenamuckla, Newmarket, County Cork, Ireland, son of Thomas and Ellen (Cremin) Horgan and was educated in Ireland.
Frank immigrated to the United States in 1961. He worked for Astra-Zeneca Pharmaceuticals for forty years. He was a member of Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Parish. Sports were always important to Frank, whether it be playing hurling in his native Ireland, playing on the Astra softball team, coaching his kids sports teams, or providing couch side coaching for the Red Sox and the Patriots. Frank truly loved being with his grandchildren and hearing about their accomplishments and milestones; whether it be first steps or game winning goals.
Frank’s family would like to thank the staff at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness, care and support provided during his stay.
The Funeral will be held Friday, March 31, from CALLAHAN~FAY~CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10:30AM in Sacred Heart-St.Catherine of Sweden Church, 596 Cambridge St. Entombment will follow in St. John’s Mausoleum. Visiting Hours are Thursday, March 30 from 4 to 7PM at the funeral home.
