Robert John Rossetti, 91, of Hopedale, died March 25 in the Hebert Nursing Home in Smithfield, Rhode Island. He was the husband of the late Mary “Maye” (Fletcher) Rossetti for over 50 years before her death in 2002.
Born in Mendon, December 1,1925, the son of the late Joseph and Kara (Bracci) Rossetti, Mr. Rossetti grew up in Mendon and had lived in Hopedale for over 50 years.
He was a graduate of Worcester Trade School.
Robert had owned the Rossetti Plumbing & Heating Company of Hopedale for over 30 years.
He had also been the plumbing inspector for Mendon and Hopedale for 20 years.
As a young boy, he had raised pigeons, after he closed his plumbing company he bought a farm in Upton where he raised, cattle, horses, pigeons and other animals.
Mr. Rossetti served in the Army during world War II. He attained the rank of Private First Class. Serving in the Battle of the Bulge, he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
He is survived by his children, Robert A. Rossetti of Attleboro, Kathleen Curran of Sanbornton, New Hampshire and Joseph Rossetti of Eastham.
He is also survived by his loving grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 29 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 10:00.
Burial will be in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Hopedale.
