Gwen Fitzgerald 53, of Randolph Massachusetts passed away peacefully with family at her side, in the early morning hours of March 23. She was a joyful, energetic soul taken too soon by a devastating and unexpected illness.
Gwen was born May 2, 1963 in Norfolk Virginia to Mary and Leo Doherty, currently of Weymouth. The youngest of three, she leaves behind sisters Susan Frawley and Nancy Doherty.
Although raised in Weymouth, she and her former husband Scott Fitzgerald made their home in Holbrook. Where they raised their daughter Shauna Lynn Fitzgerald. In later years she met her longtime companion Edmund (Sonny) Kenney.
Gwen was known as a hardworking, kind compassionate care giver to the elderly providing her clients with a little bit of laughter, and sunshine in their final years. A constant advocate for the underdog, Gwen spent her days helping others and giving of herself to make their lives better. She had a tight network of close friends and enjoyed music, karaoke, cooking and entertaining.
She was an avid sports fan enjoying Patriots football, NASCAR races and of course the Red Sox. A lover of animals big and small, she opened her home and heart to numerous rescue pets over the years. We will miss her and her thoughtful, loving nature dearly.
Her memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on March 31st at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00AM-11:00AM.
