Nadine A. (Soucy) Hoey, 64, of Worcester, died Friday, March 24th in UMass Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, William J. Hoey, III; her son, William T. Hoey and his wife, Jennifer of Holden; her daughter, Katherine M. Larsen and her husband, Christopher of Rutland; her mother Katherine Panaia of Sarasota; two sisters, Cheryl Soucy of Chicopee and Joanne Soucy of Sarasota; two grandchildren, Sydney Larsen and William Hoey. She was predeceased by a sister, Rachael Soucy.
She was born in Chicopee, her father was the late Roger Soucy. Nadine had been employed for 21 years at Masterman's, retiring in 2014. She had previously worked for New England Telephone, HCW and Banana Republic/Gap. Mrs. Hoey had been a long time member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. She enjoyed knitting, reading and time at her favorite beach, Green Harbor. Nadine will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Above all her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Nadine was absolutely the strongest person many have ever met in their lives. Even while facing her many health setbacks throughout much of her life, she fought everything head on and never had a mean bone in her body. Her soul was pure, loving and unwavering. You would never see her with anything less than a smile on her face and Nadine always enjoyed every minute life afforded. Her children and grandchildren exemplify her wondrous traits and she will forever shine on through them. She loved all of them, and her husband, without fail. This world was truly a brighter place with her in it. The day of her passing the heavens cried in beautiful fashion with snow flying throughout the day. Someone so peaceful and caring was called to serve somewhere else far too soon and we are all left broken-hearted. This universe now has a hole that will forever be empty. While our hearts are broken, knowing the warmth, joy, laughter and love Nadine shared with us all, is something we will always hold onto and treasure until we meet her again. The only solace we may find at this time, is our awareness that she is no longer in the pain she was forced to endure at the end. That, and the fact that everyone who knew her, absolutely loved and adored her wholeheartedly. Nadine's presence will sorely be missed by all who knew her, but will always be remembered lovingly, and remains with us in our hearts forever.
The family would like to thank Dr. Allen Chang, Dr. Doreen Brettler, Faith Livingston, RN and Dr. Gail Scully.
