Mary Stella Gaudette, 97, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2017 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.
Mary, a lifelong resident of Methuen, was born November 17, 1919 to Francis and Eva (Ouelette) Pelletier. After leaving school early to help raise her siblings, she believed in the value of an education and returned to school. Known for being fiercely independent, Mary worked as a human resources administrator for the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement. She was a devout Catholic who was a communicant at Our Lady of Good Counsel/ St. Theresa's Parish. In 1947, Mary married her sweetheart, Raymond, and they celebrated 32 years of marriage until his early passing in 1979. She had a fond love of animals, especially to her cat Daisy. Mary was a woman who was known for her many talents; she was a talented musician playing the organ and loving to sing. Additionally she enjoyed the quiet activities of knitting, crocheting, and was an accomplished baker. Mary was deeply devoted to her family and enjoyed spending quality with her children and grandchildren. She touched many lives and will truly be missed.
Mary is survived by her two loving children; her son Richard and his wife Rachel Gaudette of Danville, NH, and her daughter, Elaine and her husband Gary Nethercote of Methuen, MA. She was the cherished grandmother to her granddaughter, Mary-Elizabeth and her husband Paul Paradise of Auburn, NH, and her granddaughter, Rebecca and her husband John Kilfoyle of Maynard, MA. She is also survived by many loving neices and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her 10 siblings.
Visitation for Mary will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 9-10:30 AM at Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St, Methuen, MA. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 11AM at Our Lady of Counsel/St Theresa’s, 22 Plymouth St, Methuen, MA. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N Lowell St, Methuen, MA
