Donald J. Tata Jr., 63, of Natick, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. The love and respect he showed to others will be honored and remembered by all who knew him.
He was the beloved husband of Martha (O’Hagan) Tata, sharing 38 years of marriage.
A Natick resident for 38 years, he was born in Leominster; the son of the Mary E. Tata of Leominster and the late Donald J. Tata.
Don was the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tata and Howard of Marlborough, a nationally renowned environmental engineering water management company, specializing in water management solutions for industry and, state, municipal and federal projects. Don dedicated his professional life to creating water solutions and building a company based on trust and respect. He valued his team of employees, sharing ownership and success together.
Don maintained a lifelong active outdoor lifestyle and appreciation for the beauty of nature. He enjoyed camping, hiking, kayaking, running, and summer vacations on Cape Cod. Don had a love for Italy, his visits and family there were special memories to him. Don was known for Italian cooking abilities specializing in meatballs and sauce accompanied by homemade wine.
Don was graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1975 and received his Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University in 1979. He attended the Leominster School system graduating from Leominster High School. Don was also a baseball player, a stand out pitcher through his time at WPI.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son Michael A. Tata and his wife Danielle of Medfield, daughter Emily F. Tata of South Boston, cherished grandchildren Adele, Josephine and Benjamin Tata, his sisters Susan Tata and her husband Scott Evernden of Holliston, Nancy Falvey and her husband Joe of Belchertown, brother William Tata and his wife Nancy Fong of Leominster, nieces Dana Evernden and Sarah and Allison Falvey. He is also survived by his father in law George O'Hagan, the late Elizabeth O'Hagan as well as their children and extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, March 29th at 8:45 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Church Wellesley Hills.
Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Interment Glenwood Cemetery, South Natick.
