Obituary




WESTPORT — Richard D. Hatch, age 90 years, of Westport, died at home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 after a perio of declining health. He was the husband of Irene Norton Hatch.

Born in Dartmouth, son of the late John Francis Hatch and the late Florence (Huxford) Hatch, he was a lifelong area resident.

A graduate of Lafayette University, he worked for Revere Copper and Brass retiring as director of human resources.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during World War II and recipient of the Victory medal and the American Campaign medal.

An avid boater, fisherman and golfer, he and his wife wintered many years at their home in Sun City Center, Florida.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother John Hatch of Florida and his sister Martha Davis of North Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 29th from 10-11 A.M. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford with a service at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Rural Cemetery. It is suggested remembrances be made in his name to the Humane Society and Shelter, 31 Ventura Drive, Dartmouth, MA. 02747 or to the charity of one's choice.
