August “Gus” Louis, 70

August “Gus” Louis, age 70, of North Kingstown, formerly of Richmond, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the home of his daughter in Whitinsville, MA. He was the former husband and friend of Ruth M. (Hunt) Dawley.
Born in New Bedford, MA on June 30, 1946, he was a loving son of the late August and Constance (Joaquim) Louis. He grew up and was educated in New Bedford.
Gus had made his home in North Kingstown for the past fifteen years. Prior to retiring, he had worked for many years as a truck driver, retiring from the Western Oil in Pawtucket.
Gus’s favorite times by far were those spent in the presence of his adoring family. He looked forward to holidays get togethers, Christmas being his favorite time to celebrate.
Mr. Louis will always be remembered for his generous nature and his ability for making those around him laugh. His hobbies included fishing, playing cards, listening to country music and playing slots at area casinos.
Gus also enjoyed winters spent with family in Winter Haven, Florida, family reunions held at the Nordic Lodge in Charlestown, RI and being a diehard fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England, Patriots.
He is survived by his devoted children Sheri L. Hansen of Whitinsville, William E. Louis and his girlfriend Cindy Wheeler of Gales ferry, CT, Paul R. Louis of Bean Station, TN, Paula L. Louis and her fiancé Wayne Kitchin of North Kingstown, RI and Chad L. Louis and his wife Wendy of Byron, NY. He was the dear brother of the late Linda Dupere and Anthony “Tiny” Pacheco, and is also survived by his cherished 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, March 31st from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
Services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of his family at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
In lieu of flower’s, Gus’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut Inc.,
