Obituary

Michael Anthony Iovine, 72, died on March 22, 2017 from a long-extended illness over the past 19 years.
Michael was born on September 20, 1944 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of the late Carmela (Consolzario) Iovine of East Cambridge and Salvatore Iovine of Utica, New York. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Chiampa) Iovine formerly of Watertown, Mass and their Son, Marc Iovine and his wife Vanessa and Grandson, Axel of Malden, MA.

Michael was a resident of Winchester for over 40 years and was an active member of the Winchester Historical Society and was on the Commission of the Winchester Historical Society. Michael graduated from Northeastern University with a BS in Engineering and a Master in Education from Fitchburg
State College. He formerly worked at MIT, MGH Medical Engineering and at Minuteman Tech in Lexington in the development of educational programs in packaging and mechanical engineering with affiliation with companies like Gillette and development of programs in Robotics and Lego’s with affiliation with MIT. He attended national competitions with his students where Minuteman came in the top three of the competitions.

His greatest joy came from family and friends. He was a master of all things. He took pride in the restoration of their Late Queen Anne Victorian Home. He was a master carpenter, electrician and
extended his many talents in the process. His greatest joy was spending time with his son, Marc.

Michael will be very missed by his relatives, especially, his Cousins Natalie DeLuca of Stoneham,
Barbara Sterner of Stoneham, and the late Josephine Riccuiti of South Weymouth and his many
nieces and nephews.

Michael’s dedication to his family and close friends will be fondly remembered, especially, for his good humor, kindness and generosity to others.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington Street, Winchester @ (781) 729-1730 from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s
Parish, 155 Washington St., Winchester @ 9:30 AM followed by burial at Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to a charity that is very dear to the family: Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 and the Massachusetts General Hospital – MA Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, payable to MGH Development Center, Attn: Shawn Fitzgibbons, 125 Nashua St., Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.
