Obituary

LCDR John Joseph Freeman Jr, U.S. Navy- Retired, was born to Ethel Conley and John Joseph Freeman on March 28, 1954 at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Dorchester. Jack loved and relived his memories, on a regular basis, of growing up in Mattapan with his best friends, Joe, Pistol Pete, Robert, Ann, Kit, and the men, who became Mattapan North; attending St. Angela’s Grammar School and Catholic Memorial (specifically the basketball game against Hyde Park High, where CM left victorious and all the HPH cheerleaders left crying). Possibly related, in 1982, Jack married a Hyde Park High cheerleader and the love of his life, Maureen Patricia Campbell. Maureen is the daughter of the late James and Marguerite Campbell and the mother of his greatest pride: Elizabeth Marie, Kathleen Ann, John Joseph III, Carolyn Marguerite, and Jane Conley Freeman.
With a laundry list of collegiate degrees and twelve years of dedicated service to our country, as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, with many more in the Navy Reserve. Jack is most remarkable for his faith, character, work ethic, and relentless and genuine interest in the well being of others. Jack never wavered in is love and committed to God, his family, and his friends. His presence will be forever missed but forever carried in the hearts of those who were lucky to know him. #123 tigers
