Sabena M. (Roderick) Burgo, 87, of New Bedford died Monday March 6, 2017 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the wife of the late Arthur Burgo.
Born in Nantucket, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Viera) Roderick, she lived in New Bedford for the past 50 years.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Mrs. Burgo was formerly employed as a nurse's aide at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was a member of St. Martin dePorres Guild and the Our Lady of the Assumption Senior Citizens, and a former member of the Cape Verdean Ultramarine Band Club.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Severino Roderick, Walter Roderick, Napoleon Roderick, Alyce Mendes and Joseph Nichols.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 25, 2017 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Visiting hours are omitted. A private family burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Nantucket. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
