John William Walker, 72, of Tifton passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Walker at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Brantley Seymour will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Walker’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Born September 20, 1944 in Tifton, Mr. Walker was the son of the late W. A. “Brown” Walker and Kathleen Outlaw Walker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Syble A. Walker, who passed away in 2015; one brother, Emory Eugene “Gene” Walker; and one sister, Myrtice Walker. He was retired from Avondale Mills and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Walker is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Amber Walker of Greenville, South Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Kyle Gray of Tifton; one brother, Herman Walker of Tifton; two sisters, Myrtle O’Quinn and Jo-Ann Scarborough, both of Tifton; and five grandchildren, Olivia Hudson, Jackson Gray, Gavin Gray, Will Walker and Claire Walker.
