Walter S. Humphrey Jr., age 87, of Canton, died on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Walter was the husband of the late Constance L. (Hughes) Humphrey. He was born in Boston, son of the late Walter S. Humphrey Sr. and Mary (Halligan) Humphrey.
Walter served in the United States National Guard. He was employed by Fred Williams Inc., as a Union Pipefitter and retired after 40 years. He was a proud member of Local 537 and was an active member for over 50 years until his death. Walter had two passions, one was boat racing and the other guns. He was a member of the American Power Boat Association and still holds to this day a world record in “Super C Hydro”. He was also an active member of Sharon Fish and Game Club. Most important to Walter was his family, he was always involved in everything his children and grandchildren did. He will be sadly missed. Walter is survived by his three daughters Patricia D. Yanuskiewicz and her late husband Paul of Stoughton, Susan L. Grimes of Norwood, Lori A. Lester and her husband Mark of Norton. His son William T. Humphrey and his wife Kathleen of Easton;, his late son Robert W. Humphrey and 7 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Visiting hours in the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton on Monday 4:00-8:00 pm. Relatives and friends invited to attend a funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 11:00. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
