FALL RIVER – Maria B. Resendes, age 84 of Fall River, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Southpointe Rehab. & Nursing Care Center with her family by her side. Born in Santa Maria, Açores, she was the wife of the late Manuel Santos Resendes and the daughter of the late Gil Coelho Branco & the late Emilia Sousa (Bairos) Branco. Prior to retiring, Maria worked for Hudson Lock Co. as a machine operator, and was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church.
Survivors include her children: Jose Branco Resendes of Santa Maria, Açores, Maria Branco Arraial of Santa Maria, Açores, João Branco Resendes of Hudson, MA, Teresa Costa of Fall River, Natalia B. Resendes of Fall River, David B. Resendes of Hudson, MA, Jose Antonio B. Resendes of Hudson, MA, Paulo B. Resendes of Hudson, MA, Fernanda B. Betencor of Açores; 35 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. Maria was the mother of the late Antonio B. Resendes, Manuel B. Resendes, Lidia B. Resendes, Agostinho B. Resendes, & Fernando B. Resendes, and was predeceased by her brothers & sisters.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Monday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Christo Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Sunday from 2-6 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
