Obituary

Frederick Sternreich, 92, of Nashua, NH passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. He was born on June 13, 1924 in New York City, NY, a son of the late Morris and Lena (Moskowitz) Sternreich. Frederick proudly served in the Merchant Marines and received an Honorable Discharge. He attended Fordham University and later graduated from Queens College with a degree in Accounting. He worked as an accountant for Jacob Stein in New York. He also worked as a Real Estate Broker. Fred was a lifelong member of the Knights of Pythias where he also held the position of Financial Secretary for many years. In his younger years, Fred was quite an athlete. He held the record for the 100-meter dash, fought in the Golden Gloves and was called up to play baseball for the NY Giants Farm team. He enjoyed watching sports. While he lived in NH and watched the New England teams, nothing could sway him from his beloved New York Yankees. Fred also enjoyed gardening. Above all else, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn (Bernstone) Sternreich of Nashua with whom he would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on April 11th. Also survived by his three daughters, Alison O’Donoghue and her husband Dr. Mark W. O’Donoghue of Nashua, Nancy Rodecker and her husband John of New York and Melissa Sternreich and her fiancé Jan Uleis of New York; two grandchildren, Lauren Whelan and her husband Cory of Boston, MA and Ross O’Donoghue of Keene, NH, and one brother in law, Alvin M Bernstone and his wife Lan of New York.

There are no calling hours. Services will be held in New York and New Jersey.
