GERALDINE DORALEE ADAMS - VENTURA
Geraldine Doralee Adams, 82, beloved mother, mother-law, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Saturday March 11, 2017 at home in Ventura surrounded by family.
Gerry was born January 2, 1935 in Ventura, California to Jerome and Dorothy Workman. She attended Ventura High School and graduated in 1953. Her only child, Donnie was born in 1954 and, though she lived with pain most of her life with Rheumatoid Arthritis, she managed to raise him and support him through his baseball career starting with Little League, Ventura High, Ventura College, Westmont College, and over 40 years of coaching. She was the ultimate baseball mom. She loved her daughter-in-law, Jill, and treated her more like her own for nearly 35 years and loved her "Hunsaker" family as well. She was a devoted grandmother to her only grandchild, Matthew, whom she adored. She loved spending Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving with her brother and nephews and she was extremely compassionate and caring to her friends and extended baseball families (Anglins, Downeys, Irvines, Matheneys, and Thomas) and baseball sons, John Durnal and Mike Glenn. She also loved her neighbors and working in her yard when she was able. Mom will be deeply missed by all.
Gerry was preceded in death by parents. She is survived by her son, Donnie (wife Jill, grandson Matthew), Jerry Workman, niece Flossie Azevedo, and nephews Jerome, Ronnie, KC, and Brad Workman.
The family wishes to thank her niece Flossie for spending many afternoons keeping her company, her dear friends and family members who called and stopped by to visit, Dr. Robert Gonzalez, Dr. Arthur Inoshita, caregiver Yolie, and Oakhurst Hospice (Amanda, Mayra, Lance, and Faye) for their invaluable help and support.
Family and friends are invited to graveside funeral services to be held Friday March 17, 2017 at 10am in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura. Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 E. Main Street Ventura.
