Jeanne I. (Berube) Furtado, 89, of New Bedford passed away Sunday March 12, 2017 at Whaler's Cove Assisted Living after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John Furtado.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonio and Beatrice (Fouquette) Berube, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Furtado was a member of the Royal Travelers. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, and taking an occasional trip to Foxwoods.
Her family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Whaler's Cove for their care and kindness to Jeanne.
She is survived by three children, Denis Bruneau and his wife Mary of Wareham, Wayne Furtado and his companion Melody of New Bedford, and Donna Correia and her husband Randall of Dartmouth; her siblings, Vivian Coleman of New Bedford, Claire Shaub of Colorado, and Marcel Berube of Fairhaven; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Roland and Rene Berube.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM.
