Barry J. Hutchings, a current resident of Dedham and formerly of Malden, Tewksbury, and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 10, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 56 years of age.
Barry was born in Boston on March 27, 1960, a son of the late John H. Hutchings and Ethel M. (James) Hutchings. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from Charlestown High School. Barry worked for 30 years as a welder for Atlantic Crane. Barry truly lived his life by the motto often spoken by his father John, "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice".
Barry is the loving son of the late John H. Hutchings and Ethel M. (James) Hutchings. He is the beloved brother of Mary Dupuis and her husband Gerald of Billerica, Chickie (Ethel) Flynn and her late husband Tom of Tewksbury, John Hutchings of Somerville, Paul Hutchings and his wife Jeri of Randolph, Tom Hutchings and his wife Barbara of Brighton, Susan Talbot and her husband Tom of Concord, NH, Laura Simone and her husband Edward of Dedham, and the late Timothy Hutchings. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barry's Funeral on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 9:30 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10:30 A.M. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. His visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 3 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
