GAUGHAN, Richard G. of Winthrop, passed away on March 9, 2017. He was 74. Devoted father of Richard G. Gaughan Jr. and his wife Jeannette of Braintree. Adored “Papa” of Cameron and Rylan Gaughan. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Robert Gaughan and the late Ann (Manfra) Farrell. Dear brother of Robert Gaughan of Salem, NH, Dennis Gaughan and his wife Susan of Winthrop and Joseph Gaughan and his wife Sharon of Melrose. Also survived by his wife (separated) Betty Gaughan of Dedham and many loving nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop on Sunday, March 19, from 2-6pm. Relatives and friends are invited. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, serving from 1962-1968. He was a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks #1078. Richard was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co in Boston for 25 years from 1963-1988, as a Merchandise Controller and then later went on to work for Park Shuttle and Fly in East Boston for 25 years from 1989 and retiring in 2014.
