Ave Cleghorn, Jr., 83, of Brunswick, Georgia, died Friday, March 10, 2017, at Senior Care Center in Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, March 13, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Arp Baptist Church Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Mr. Cleghorn was born November 27, 1933, in Turner County, Georgia, one of 13 children to the late Avery & Essie Mardell Parks Cleghorn. He attended school in Irwin County. Mr. Cleghorn served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for many years as a self-employed barber and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by a step-grandson, Randy Rowell of Brantley County; two sisters: Martha Fletcher of Chula and Wynell Oliver of Macon; and two brothers: Edward & Mity Cleghorn of Richmond Hill and Sam & Lee Ann Cleghorn of Ray City. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Jane Cleghorn; two brothers: Frank Cleghorn and Jesse Cleghorn; and six sisters, Ruby Hall, Dora Hall, Mary Harper, Nancy Tribble, Lucile Neisler, and Frances Marie Cleghorn.
